Innocence

She sat by the waterside all alone. The day was hot, the flies buzzing around starting to annoy her. She looked around, no one was here. It was just her, the horrid flies and the large cool lake. She stood up, seeming to come to a decision. Eyes flicking around nervously, the girl lowered her skirt to the floor, moments later letting it be joined by her shirt.

Suddenly, she crouched down, all confidence lost. Someone was here after all, she was sure she just heard a man quietly chuckle. She sat, with her knees drawn under her chin for a long while, glancing around her, trying to place where the noise had come from.

Slowly, after hearing nothing further, her gaze drifted back to the lake. It was so tempting, the temperature of the air making her want to be in there, splashing around. She sat in the burning sun, nude save for her white underwear.

After being sure that no-one was around after all, she once again stood up, but this time ran to the shore. As soon as she was deep enough in the cool water, she dived and the sudden shock of the colder deeper, water was enough to delight her, sending welcome shivers through her body when she surfaced.

Something wasn't right. She could feel it around her ankle, an unusual slippery feeling. For a moment she thought it must be seaweed, but that idea vanished in an instant as she felt it start to crawl up her leg. Something was crawling up her leg. Underwater. Something cold and slippery.

Without thinking, the nineteen year old screamed, thrashing in the water, trying desperately to get back to the shore. It was no use, the thing, what ever it was, was pulling her out of her depth! She kicked with her legs, churning the surface water into white foam. This isn't happening! It can't be!

There was a second thing now, clawing at her thigh. A third, pressing on her back... There were more around her legs, pulling her down.

As her face submerged under the water for the last time, the girl let out a final scream, a cry for help, a plea to be let go. She looked down into the water, saw the thing holding her breast, and knew that all chance of escape was lost...
